Xcel Energy is committed to delivering reliable, affordable service for our customers. Part of that commitment includes rebuilding aging infrastructure to serve our communities.
Beginning in late 2023 we will rebuild the 10-mile 69-kilovolt transmission line between the Westgate and Gleason Lake substations between Eden Prairie, through Minnetonka and ending near the Plymouth/Wayzata border. See map below for details.
The new poles will be within 10 feet of the existing structures and approximately 10-feet taller than the current infrastructure. The easement will not expand, and most work will take place within the existing easement.
Occasional road and trail closures may occur as equipment is moved.
If we need to interrupt electric service as part of the project we will notify customers ahead of time.
