The Couderay-Osprey 161/69 kilovolt (kV) transmission line project was completed in November, 2016. Construction on the project began in 2014. The project included rebuilding an aging transmission line that connects the Couderay Substation in Sawyer County with the Osprey Substation in Rusk County. The project consists of replacing the existing two-pole wood structures with single-pole steel structures.
The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin approved the Certificate of Authority for this project on October 25, 2012.
The Couderay-Osprey transmission upgrade will meet the area’s growing electricity needs, support additional load growth and strengthen electric reliability.
