Transforming New Mexico

Power for the Plains Projects

Through the Power for the Plains Projects we are in the process of building more than $3 billion in new transmission lines and related facilities spanning portions of Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma to help improve electric reliability, strengthen the existing transmission grid and provide outlet for additional renewable wind generation. The 168-mile 345 kilovolt TUCO-Yoakum-Hobbs transmission line is expected to be complete in June 2020.  Construction on the Eddy-Kiowa 345 kilovolt project will begin in New Mexico in 2020.
